Let’s face it, 2020 and thus far in 2021 have tested us all like never before. I think that it is fair to say that we are all tired; tired of COVID, tired of politics and tired of people behaving badly.

It makes sense that we stop for a minute and put everything into perspective. As humans, we dominate our environment and expect everything to go our way. When it doesn’t, we naturally become intolerant and try to fix it. In this case, we couldn’t, despite a global effort.

What this has meant is that our lives have been turned upside down. Our freedom and our liberties have changed, and it has not been convenient. This in turn has led to widespread frustration and as a result, it seems that we have really seen the worst in so many of our fellow human beings.

So what now? What do we do about it and when will it change? These are great questions and likely do not have proven or reliable answers or solutions. What we should consider is that we can only control our own attitudes, beliefs, and actions. As a result, we need to focus on ourselves and set an example that is positive and responsible. This will hopefully motivate others to do the same.

Now we all want this to be over, but it is not and may not be for quite some time. It means that we have the opportunity to adjust and discover a new normal in which we can be happy and prosper.

For now, the best advice that we can give is that everyone should be kind and thoughtful, appreciate what we have and be respectful to others. By doing these simple, yet difficult things, we will create a new normal that can be better than the normal we had before.
